Confidence Come From Work

Recently Jimmy Butler from the Chicago Bulls won the Most Improved Player of the Year Award. When his award ceremony aired, I was glued to the TV to hear what he had to say. Something he said really stuck with me, and made a lot of sense. When talking about the start of his college he said that "your confidence only comes from your work." Right away I wrote down this quote because it is very unique and true.

As a leader and facilitator, we need to show confidence in everything we do. When I heard this quote I started thinking about my progress as a facilitator. I specifically thought of why I decided to apply for a mentorship position. Now that I am done with the independent study, I have realized that my confidence has gone way up, and that is due to the extra workload I decided to pursue this year.

The only way to improve is by constantly working at what you want to accomplish. I thought about Joe Deluce, and how he still is attending workshops and lectures on leadership and management even though he has so much experience and is very successful in the field. By continuing to work, one is able to build more confidence within themselves.

Overall when Jimmy Butler said that confidence comes with working hard, it sparked something in me and is a constant reminder to why working is so important. I believe that as leaders we need to constantly be working at what we do so that we can have confidence not only in ourselves but to project that confidence to our participants. I think that what Jimmy Butler said is an important motto to keep in mind throughout life.
